چکیده

This paper presents results of a user study to investigate detailed end-user requirements for reconfigurable radio systems. 23 participants contributed to this user study in scenario-based interviews. These results focus upon the information and interactions that will be required for users to understand the ‘reconfiguration’ process, as well as their conception of the positive and negative implications of reconfigurable radio systems.

Comparison of Downconversion Techniques for Software Radio

Software radio is an enabling technology for future radio transceivers, allowing the realisation of multimode, multiband, and reconfigurable base stations and terminals. This paper describes work comparing two suitable methods of downconverting RF signals to baseband, which may be used in software radios. These are direct conversion and bandpass sampling. The performance of each method is evalu...

NEXWAY IST-2001-37944 Reconfigurable Radio Access Technology: Between Myth and Reality

An overview of software radio and reconfigurable radio is given, with a special emphasis on results from EU-funded projects. The state-of-the art in reconfigurable radio is presented, detailing architectures providing reconfigurability for networks and services. The allsoftware approach for reconfigurable network elements and terminals is described. Finally, the Eurecom software radio platform ...

Compelling Needs and Technologies to support Reconfigurable Terminals

To date, research into reconfigurable mobile communications has predominantly focussed on the software radio concept, and specifically on the hardware technologies required to move physical layer processing into a programmable environment [1][2][3]. Although an interesting and necessary challenge, this only represents a fraction of the overall support and technology required to realise the pote...

Give the People What They Want: Studying Non- Programmers Describing End-User Web Programming

Understanding end-user's needs is a prerequisite for designing End-User Programming (EUP) environments. This paper reports on two qualitative studies that answer the following questions: 1) what do end-users want to improve on the Web; and 2) how do end-users without programming knowledge describe computational tasks? For the first question we asked 35 Web users about their daily activities and...

Performance Evaluation of an Sdr Signal Processing Board Using a Reconfigurable Processor

Software defined radio (SDR) mobile terminals that can access multiple wireless communication systems are the trend of the future. An SDR wideband mobile terminal must be capable of high-speed data processing and low power consumption. Reconfigurable processors with these features show promise for SDR wideband mobile terminals. We have developed a signal processing board using a reconfigurable ...
